Call for Presentations
AtmosphereConf comes to Europe 🇪🇺 For the first time ever, from 29 April to 2 May 2027, we’re heading to the Netherlands...and looking for talks!
Who should submit a talk?
We want to hear from those who are building, using, and dreaming up the Atmosphere (the open network of apps and services built on AT Protocol), as well as the future of the wider web.
That's developers, of course. But it's also researchers, artists, journalists, community builders, creators, moderators, policy people, people wranglers, and anyone running something on AT Protocol or seeking to make change on the internet.
If you don’t see your unique combination of interests and skills here, that’s why you should submit!
First-time speakers are more than welcome.
What we're looking for
Short talks across four themes:
- Build: how the Atmosphere gets made. Apps, infrastructure, protocol work, developer tooling, data, and research that goes into technical minutiae.
↳ Want to talk about how something works, how you built it, or how you broke it? Weekend projects or production infrastructure...that's Build! - Create: what people make with (and in) the Atmosphere. Art, music, writing, games, fandom, creator businesses, and all the wonderful, chaotic (not to mention, wonderfully chaotic) internet culture in between.\
↳ Want to talk about making things, building culture, or what creativity and connection look like past walled gardens? Code or no code...that’s Create! - Inform: how news and knowledge spread through the Atmosphere. Journalism, media organizations, publishing, newsletters, podcasts, science communication, and relentless fact-checking.
↳ Want to talk about how to keep people informed, or help them trust what's out there? Large newsrooms or one-person blogs...that's Inform! - Govern: how we make decisions and protect each other. Moderation, trust & safety, community governance, privacy, permissioned data as rights, public sector, regulation, and policy.
↳ Want to talk about rules, power, and how we shape decisions and keep communities safe? Community mods or policymakers...that’s Govern!
Not sure? Ask yourself who you want there most: developers (Build), makers and fans (Create), people who publish (Inform), or those who shape and protect our spaces (Govern).
You can't pick wrong: your choice helps us match proposals to reviewers, but we'll still move them between themes if necessary.
Side Events
- ATScience: science and research on atproto: open research, scholarly publishing, research data and tools. Curated with the ATScience community.
Formats
- Talk: 25 minutes, including Q&A
- Lightning talk: 10 minutes (+ 5 minutes Q&A), in a smaller room, recorded
- Workshop: 90 min, hands-on
Dates
We run the Call for Presentations in two rounds. Most slots are filled in round 1, and we keep room in round 2 for new topics and things that come up early next year.
- Round 1: 15 October to 30 November 2026. You'll hear from us by 18 December.
- Round 2: 11 January to 14 February 2027. You'll hear from us by 5 March. Round 2 has fewer slots.
Need a visa or travel support to come to The Netherlands? Please submit in round 1, so there's enough time to arrange it. Proposals from round 1 that we like but can't place yet are automatically considered again in round 2.
What speakers get
- Talk (25 minutes): a free conference ticket
- Lightning talk: your talk in the program and the recording. Lightning talks don't include a free ticket.
- Workshops:
How we select
Track leads from the community review proposals together with the content team. We look for a mix of topics, perspectives and places, and we read every proposal.
What makes for great proposals
The best proposals tell us:
- what you built, studied, or ran
- what you care about, and why others should too
- what you learned (whether it worked or not)
- what people can take home from your session
There's no need to over-polish. We welcome all works in progress, open questions, and "here’s where I'm stuck"s. We all have something—many things!—worth sharing, so share yours with us!
Just remember: we know you’re proud of what you’re building (so are we!), but AtmosphereConf is about sharing knowledge, not promoting projects. A proposal that feels too much like a sales pitch won’t get past review.
Good to know
Talks are recorded and livestreamed. Everyone at AtmosphereConf follows our Code of Conduct. Questions? Email [email protected].
Submissions close on 2026-11-30 23:59 (Europe/Amsterdam), 1Â month, 2Â weeks from now.
